If you are unaware of this here is a quick run down of the yeast infection diet.

There are two ways the yeast infection diet works
1 – The Candida fungus likes foods that contain sugar, mold, and starches so these are eliminated from our diet to starve the fungus.
2 – It also identifies the foods that could be causing harm to our immune system.

There are three parts to a yeast infection diet. Part one eliminates the infection, part two reintroduces foods and part three is where most foods have been reintroduced to our regular diet.

Phase one is where boot camp starts. No food shall contain dairy, sugar, gluten, starch, preservatives, chemical additives, mold or processed meat – doesn’t leave much does it?

The following list shows what foods can be consumed during phase one;

Vegetables – green and leafy is the key here!
Spinach
Lettuce
Silverbeet
Bok Choy/Pak Choy
Broccoli
Asparagus
Cabbage
Turnips
Kale
Peppers – red, green, yellow, orange
Zucchini
Cucumber
Squash

Meat
Lean lamb
Chicken
Fish
Turkey

Eggs – limit to two a day
Most nuts and seeds – almonds, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds – cashews and peanuts are the only nuts that you should avoid because there is a excellent chance that they contain mold.

Add some flavor
All herbs and spices are allowed, especially black pepper, garlic, ginger and cinnamon

Oils
There are certain oils that have a high smoke point, contain plenty of essentail fatty acids and omega 3,6 and 9. Examples include coconut, flaxseed, sesame and sunflower.

The following foods are on the ‘maybe’ list because each yeast infection diet seems to have a differing opinion about whether they are allowed in stage one or not.
Yogurt – only if it is natural, unsweetened and contains live cultures
Cottage Cheese – same deal, unsweetened and check the ingredients if you are using a flavored variety.
Whole grains – millet, quinoa, brown rice etc. Some programs say OK in the first few weeks, others say no way.
Bean Sprouts
Peas
Fruit that is low in sugar, like pears, pineapple, kiwifruit, limes and lemon.

The best advice here is that if you want to include any of them, then have really small servings once a day – I know that I would have gone bonkers during the elimination phase of my yeast infection diet if I could not have had cottage cheese with cinnamon on a rice cracker for supper!

This elimination stage of a yeast infection diet should last at least two weeks.

Stage two of our yeast infection diet is when we can start to eat other foods.
This needs to be done super slowly – one food at a time, one serving at a time.

Start with your simple carbohydrates – whole grains, legumes or starchy vegetables. The crucial element here is to observe any reaction – this may be as subtle as your heart starting to beat quicker. If you do notice any reaction, then keep eliminating it for at least another two weeks. If you keep getting a reaction then you may have to remove it from your diet indefinitely.

Stage three of the yeast infection diet is when you have introduced all of your normal foods with no reaction – well done!

Although you will feel brilliant while on your yeast infection diet, you will not be able to permanently get rid of your Candida just by using the diet.

To do that you need a full program of anti-fungal supplements, support for your kidneys and liver as they remove the toxins left behind by the Candida and you also need to heal the hurt that the fungus has caused to your organs and immune system.
